Resources for Gainesville, FL Start-Ups

Gainesville offers many resources for start-ups as the hub for the University of Florida and many established companies. We, at Pepine Commercial, have compiled a list of some of the best resources for entrepreneurs in the Alachua County area.

UF Innovate

UF Innovate, also known as “The Hub,” is building business on innovation. It is the umbrella organization comprised of four bodies that fuel the innovation ecosystem at UF. Based at one of the nation’s leading research institutions, UF Innovate unites Business Ventures, Tech Licensing, and two business incubators, The Hub and Sid Martin Biotech.

Collectively, those organizations move research discoveries from the laboratory to the market. UF Innovate connects innovators with entrepreneurs, investors, and industry, incubates startups and growth companies, and fosters a resilient economy — all in an effort to make the world a better place.

Since its beginnings, UF Innovate has generated more than a billion dollars in private investments. It now has 193 startups which were launched by tech licensing and 960 jobs created as a result.

GTEC

The Gainesville Technology Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC) is a community program that provides early stage startup companies with the necessary tools, training, and infrastructure to get started and develop into financially viable enterprises.

The building consists of a 30,000 sq. ft. business incubator located in southeast Gainesville, Florida, owned by the city and managed by Santa Fe College. By cultivating successful tech companies, the GTEC incubator has created jobs and strengthened the Gainesville area. The primary goal of the GTEC incubator is to increase the number of service, technology, and light manufacturing firms established in Gainesville, Florida.

Whether you need advice and guidance from experts, business support, or a workspace, the Gainesville Technology Entrepreneurship Center is here to meet those needs.

CIED

Located in the Santa Fe College Blount Center in downtown Gainesville, Florida, the CIED Entrepreneur Incubator serves early-stage startups across a broad spectrum of sectors, from traditional service-oriented businesses like catering and furniture moving, to training, education, and exam preparation businesses, as well as more technology focused businesses like web, app and game development.

Entrepreneurs are supported through access to business development resources, shared office space, and administrative and technical support. Professional meeting space is also available.
Whether you need specialized training to reach your career goals, represent a business needing cutting-edge training for your employees, or are an entrepreneur seeking business support, SF’s Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED) is here to meet your needs.
